Can You Say “This Is It” for Yourself?

I am profoundly inspired… in a life-changing kinda way. I saw the new Michael Jackson movie, This Is It, yesterday. It blew my white rhinestone socks off! (Truth be told, I had tear dewbies at several points in the movie – it is that powerful!) As an entrepreneur, and a soul-driven person, it spoke to the depths of me.

Here are the key points that I took away, and which you, as an entrepreneur, can likely relate to… (and I won’t say too much about the movie itself because you really need to personally experience it for yourself) ;+)

1. Michael Jackson had complete love and joy in expressing his true gifts to the world. He did it because he loved it, not because it was going to make him rich and/or famous.

2. He was the consummate professional, being hands-on with literally every note and nuance of his performance. And his performance included the contribution of everyone around him.

3. He wanted other people to shine in the sharing their gifts and talents. He was inclusive of his community.

4. He asked for what he wanted, even when a little frustrated, with love.

5. He had a high attention to detail, and the vital importance of the accumulated effects of those seemingly small details.

6. His body was his instrument, and the music moved through him. He became it.

7. He did physical things with his body that most 50-years olds wish they could do – he kept up with the young dancers behind him (WHILE he sang too!).

8. He was a performer through and through – put him in a spotlight, and he knew what to do with it. It was so natural that rehearsal wasn’t really necessary, but it became a group bonding experience.

9. He gave the audience what they wanted, putting them first in the experience as they created it.

10. His answer to the producer, upon coordinating a huge part of the production, was “I will feel it”. That whole part of the show (well, all of it, really) rested on him “feeling” it.

11. He had deep concern about our human imprint on our planet, and wanted to help heal the earth from destructive, artificial forces by honoring nature.

12. His producer said, upon observing the reaction of the crew, that it was “church” time as people reveled in the pure joy of his energy expressing so clearly through his talents.

13. He was a non-conformist, and went with what he knew to be true for him. And that made history.

I could go on… this movie is a beautiful testimonial to the legacy he left. It’s deeply seeped in lessons that you, and every other entrepreneur who wants to pull the power of their soul through their business, need to experience personally. To see him in the raw footage (that most other professionals aspire to in polished performance) means to see him in the less packaged persona of a real person.

Most importantly, “This Is It” is the affirmation of his dancers, his crew, his intentions for sharing what seems to be his crowning jewel of an illustrious, interesting, unconventional career. And it was all based on him being who he was from spirit. He couldn’t be anything else… the very definition of a soul-driven entrepreneur.

So, can you say “This Is It” about your life, your business? Do you feel the rapture of who you are on a daily basis? Do you get how vital you are to making the planet a better place as a result of you in it?

To experience that kind of passion and purpose, go see the movie. It’s only out for another ten days or so, from what I understand, so you need to make this a priority. And then get back to the business of you.

Productive Procrastination… What?

Procrastination is a big deal for a lot of entrepreneurs, and we tend to view procrastination as a negative. But a colleague of mine has a completely different perspective on it, which I think very interesting and potentially helpful. Read on to learn more…

Kerul Kassel asks, “Could it actually be wise to procrastinate sometimes?” There are secrets to understanding when it can be productive to procrastinate, and strategies for switching on the inspiration and motivation to start and finish the important tasks and goals you’ve been putting off.

Procrastination isn’t what you think it is, and being a procrastinator isn’t necessarily a bad thing – sometimes it provides the space for you to connect with, engage, and optimize your potential. Productive procrastination also allows you to get things done with less struggle and resistance. Kerul has two books on procrastination, available at http://productiveprocrastinationbook.com/.

If you know that what is holding you back from the success you want is that you’re not doing what you know you need to do, that you’re putting things off, delaying things continually, you’re an eleventh hour person, or if you think procrastinator is your middle name, these books could be really helpful in getting your energy moving in a new direction.

Innovative Website Connects Worthy Causes With Support

I just came across this website, which is still in Beta, but is gearing up to do big things to help people.

Wamboo, LLC is launching an innovative website dedicated to having a sustainable impact on families and communities. Wamboo.com will tap the power of social networking to connect worthy individuals and families in need with people willing to help. In addition, police, fire departments and non-profit organizations will be able to help more people with fewer resources while introducing their cause to a more socially conscious demographic. Membership is free.

“The goal of Wamboo.com is to bring relief to those who need it most. In these challenging economic times, we feel Wamboo.com will be the perfect venue to assist stretched charitable organizations meet ongoing demands,” said Founder and CEO Dori Gehling. The website will offer a variety of features to help make the process as simple and fun as possible.

The website includes terminology like:

* Rally – An individual or family in need.

* Champion – An organization in good standing that will sponsor and facilitate a Rally.

* Team – A group of individuals who join forces to support a Rally.

* Pep Talk – Messages posted on one Member’s profile by another Member encouraging support.

* Trophy Case – When sponsoring a Rally, a Champion may select a symbolic trophy or medal to appear on a Member’s profile to recognize certain levels of support.

Every Champion organization will set up a profile and submit a Wamboo Rally Affidavit to help ensure that 100% of the funds raised go toward the Rally they are supporting. There is no minimum donation requirement and no part of the donation goes to Wamboo. Members may track the progress of the fundraising effort. “We are very excited about the launch of Wamboo.com and the positive impact this new venture can have on families and non-profit organizations.” Gehling added, “feedback during our beta and testing cycles has been extremely encouraging. The kindness of people never ceases to amaze me.”

Where are you vs. where you want to be by the end of 2009?

There are officially 91 days left in 2009 as of October 1 – it’s going fast! And so I thought it might be helpful for you to have a way to give yourself a reality check on where you are vs. where you wanted to be at the end of this year in your soul-driven business.

With clarity and realization now, you still have time to address what’s needed so you can enjoy the rewards of actualizing your goals by the end of 2009.

Take a moment to consider the following questions… and if you discover that you’ve got something incomplete as of yet, now is the time to get moving!

1. What do you feel are your most significant achievements since January 1, 2009? And have you celebrated them to give your spirit the joy, satisfaction and incentive to keep you moving toward other achievements in the future?

2. What goals did you set for yourself in the beginning of the year that you have not yet achieved? How about the ones you haven’t even started yet?

3. Does your business / life look and feel different than it did on January 1, 2009? If yes, in what ways? If not, is there anything that needs to be changed or are you completely happy?

4. What regrets do you have about anything that has occurred this year? If any, what can you do to either release or reframe them?

5. What is the source of your greatest joy? Have you given that enough time this year?

6. What does your morning feel like consistently? Are you ready to jump out of bed to take on the day? If not, what needs to change for you to be excited about your day?

7. Does your world reflect who you are now? Consider your environment, relationships, habits… anything that makes up your world is a reflection of you, and if it’s the “old” you, it’s time to let that go (because it’s now officially become “clutter”).

8. Who isn’t being helped by what you do because you aren’t visible enough yet? And what do you need to do to become seen by them?

9. Do you feel spirit moving through you on a daily basis? If not, where have you become disconnected from your source energy?

10. Are you spending your life force energy for your best and highest good? Are you focusing on the best use of your time, energy and resources for what you want to achieve on a regular basis?

Bonus Question: What three things will you do in the next seven days to get you closer toward actualizing your goals for 2009?

Lynn, my intention is that this quick check-in helps you get clear on how you can better close out the year in celebration of your achievements. (And if you need catalystic back-up, know that I am on stand-by to support you!) ;+)
