One of the most fascinating aspects of being an entrepreneur is figuring out that we’ve actually become successful. A key tool that I use with my clients is the completion of the following statement: I know I am successful by _______________. By filling in the blank, and really considering all the facets of what that means, you can determine what your definition of success is as a vital piece to accomplishing it. If you don’t know what success means to you, how will you know when you get there, right?
Personally, I have two definitions of success: I know I am successful to the degree I facilitate positive transformation in, for, with and through the people around me. (That’s also my prime directive in life, by the by…) And I also know that I am successful by the degree of independence I have in making choices and decisions in my life in every way. If you take the time to think about what each of those means, you can see that there’s a lot wrapped up in each of them… me as a facilitator of transformation means I am a conduit, a teacher, a healer but I am not actually doing it – my clients are doing the transforming. And in, for, with and through is comprehensive in how positive transformation occurs, as is the phrase “the people around me” which includes every person with whom I come into contact.
And the reason this is the topic at hand today is that I take time to appreciate my life daily, but I don’t always stop to consider my own success. So it caught me a little off-guard today when I realized that I am fairly successful by my own definition. And I give thanks for that too… ;+) It hasn’t been easy but it is definitely worth it.
My greatest joy – and passion – is in sharing with others how they can do it too. I’m blessed to have the gift of “sight”, the ability to teach and the sense to follow the energy to be able to bring people’s light to them in the way they can most receive it, all of which I’ve cultivated in order to be successful in my business.
So here’s my question to you: what has surprised you about your success? I’d love to hear…(and add good energy to you achieving and celebrating it!). Please let me know your definition of success and what has surprised you about achieving it along the way!
